The NS, or Name Server records of a domain, reveal which servers manage the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a particular hosting provider for your domain address is the simplest way to point it to their system and all its sub-records will be managed on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), etc, if you would like to modify any one of these records, you're going to be able to do it via their system. To put it differently, the NS records of a domain name point out the DNS servers that are authoritative for it, so when you try to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to get the DNS records of the domain name you are trying to access. That way the web site that you will see will be retrieved from the right location. The name servers usually have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and every single domain name has at least 2 NS records. There is no functional difference between the two prefixes, so what kind a hosting provider will use depends solely on their preference.

NS Records in Website Hosting

The avant-garde Hepsia Control Panel, included with with our website hosting plans, will enable you to control the name servers of every domain address registered through us with simply a few clicks, so even though you may haven't had a website hosting plan or a domain address before, you won't encounter any difficulties. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, comes with a very user-friendly interface and it will enable you to edit the NS records of any domain or even a number of domains together. Additionally we give you the opportunity to create child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for every domain registered in the account just as easily and all you need for that is a couple of IP addresses - either ours, if you will use the child NS to point the domain name to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party provider if you will use the new records to point the domain address to their system. Unlike other companies, we do not charge more for providing this additional DNS management service.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our semi-dedicated server accounts are administered via Hepsia - an all-in-one tool with very user-friendly interface, which will help you control your domain addresses with ease even when you have not used a web hosting account or a domain name in the past. Changing the NS records for any domain registered with our company, viewing the current ones and whether they are correct or not as to forward that domain to our cloud hosting platform is also quite simple and requires as little as several clicks. You're also going to be able to register child name servers under every one of your domains as an element of the free DNS control services we offer with each and every plan and have ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com. The latter can be used for every domain address which you accommodate within the semi-dedicated account, so if you offer services to third-parties and host their websites, using this feature will give you more credibility as a business.
